Inclusive Democracy

Greece invented Democracy some 2500 years ago, it has been used ever since by many many groups. It is a composite word derived from Demos means small city (municipality) or a group of People (called it tribe) and Kratos meaning Country or better still State. It was a very successful system in the past and created many useful tools, objects and ideas that are valid to this day and are designed to improve life and raise People to a higher level of being. As time passed many factors have changed, (a couple are listed below):

Populations increased and as such the unit of Demos has changed. We now have cities that have higher population than many Countries. During the origin of Democracy Demos was also equivalent to a Country. Each Demos was a separate Country, sometimes cooperating with each other and other times fighting with each other and killing a lot of People.. Some 60 years back Leopold Kohr wrote a wonderful book named “The destruction of Nations”. He was presenting his dream solution of our mess (this mess was building up for a long time and 60 years back was getting on high gear).
His suggestion in short was that we should go back to the very small city states in order to solve our problems. His final question was: “will it ever happen??” and his answer was: “I don't think so.....”

Democracy became the vehicle for many global legal scams which will take a book and more to list. Just to mention one small item called “shortings” in the stock markets. Using this tool global multi-scammers sell shares (with borrowed money) that they do not own, at a lower than market price values. They are hoping that this stock (or bond) will fall in value soon and when it does they buy it back with real money this time and let the price rise back (in fact they push it to go up) and at some point they sell the stock make a very large profit and pay back the loan of the borrowed shares, with a lot left over. Shortings are used a lot in hedge funds. Lately they were used to the point that they almost bankrupt some countries (Greece and some other).

In this first idea I will pick up on a variety of democracy that I discovered lately on the net: “Inclusive Democracy” http://www.inclusivedemocracy.org/ The founder is a special Greek Person “Takis Fotopoulos” who is a Political Philosopher and lives in London http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takis_Fotopoulos

Details of the system and how a transition will happen are still limited and here is the responsibility of all of us. Read the links and expand by adding your thoughts.

The links to Inclusive Democracy (I.D.) in addition to the above are:

Global Inequalities - Let us try to change it.

We live on a Planet with limited resources and our numbers keep increasing daily. We are approaching 7 billion People and some claim that by 2050 our population will be 9.1 billion (http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?Ne...ation&Cr1)
Our Planet's resources and wealth are not divided equally and we have a present day situation that 2% of the people of the world own half of the World Household Wealth ( http://www.metrics2.com/blog/2006/12/05/..._1_un.html ) and the the bottom 50% of the people own just 1% of the World Household Wealth. Some actually claim that the true situation is even worst.

The table below has taken data from https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html and detailed analysis is available on request as an open-office or excel spreadsheet (after I do some cleaning and reorganizing). If you spent a few minutes here you can see the horror of inequalities and think about those kids born every day in the so called underdeveloped World and they cannot expect to live past the age of 38 or they have an 18% chance to die at birth. These kids have the same genes as all of us, despite their color, ethic origin, religious origin or place of birth. How can we sleep in our comfortable beds when we know about these facts;;;

If you analyze the numbers below you will discover that 18.5% of the World population controls 60% of the Global GDP and the remaining 81.5% controls 40% of the Global GDP. Keep in mind that Household Wealth and GDP are two separate numbers.

This is not an attempt to do Global economic analysis, it is simply raising an issue in search for IDEAS, even those that may be considered at first crazy.

Our World started some tens of thousands years ago with a few People living among the other animals of the World and almost immediately developed the tribal feeling (when we are closer together, among more of the same like us) we can be more efficient and also safer. Then the leaders started evolving, claiming the larger portion of food, the best looking bride and more. They had to use techniques to convince all others about their superiority. This was the beginning of theocracy which is with us to these days. Then kings and emperors where invented, together with Democracy feelings. Conflicts have cost mankind many many lives. Feudalism came up to produce more crops and more profits for the few. Finally Capitalism emerged only to be followed by an attempt to replace by Communism. The later failed miserably for a variety of reasons, most of them unknown. One day World Historians may discover the reasons. For now keep looking a the list of Russian Billionaires (Forbes is a good source) which is growing every year. Capitalism appears to be also failing. I am afraid that the future may present us with some of the most serious disasters, originating from Human hands. Unless we invent a new socio-economic system to govern our selves we are all doomed. The prophecies of Nostradamus and the like, may prove to be very mild.

I am an optimist and I believe that we can all live together, all People, all races, all religions (including none), all ages and within a small range of incomes. We have to define that range. From one point you have a person or a family that controls wealth amounting to billions and billions and at the same time, in this same Planet, we have others who try to survive with salaries not more than 1 (yes ONE) dollar per day (and many of them are kids under the age of 10). There is something WRONG and unless we fix it soon we are all DOOMED the rich and the poor!!

This is going to be a long article, but I will stop here for now. The purpose of this Forum (Hope for ALL People) is to search deep and try and find some hope. Let us all think and please start thinking of ideas that may reverse this tragic situation.

The table below has taken data from https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/index.html and detailed analysis is available on request as an open-office or excel spreadsheet (after I do some cleaning and reorganizing). If you spent a few minutes here you can see the horror of inequalities and think about those kids born every day in the so called underdeveloped World and they cannot expect to live past the age of 38 or they have an 18% chance to die at birth. These kids have the same genes as all of us, despite their color, ethic origin, religious origin or place of birth. How can we sleep in our comfortable beds when we know about these facts;;;

Uri Avnery (Also transliterated Uri Avneri, born 10 September 1923) is an Israeli writer and founder of the Gush Shalom peace movement. A member of the Irgun as a teenager, Avnery sat in the Knesset from 1965-74 and 1979-81. He was also the owner of HaOlam HaZeh, an Israeli news magazine, from 1950 until it closed in 1993.

He is famous for crossing the lines during the Battle of Beirut to meet Yassir Arafat on 3 July 1982, the first time the Palestinian leader ever met with an Israeli. Avnery is the author of several books about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including 1948: A Soldier’s Tale, the Bloody Road to Jerusalem (2008); Israel’s Vicious Circle (2008); and My Friend, the Enemy (1986).

This is a product that can be made by any one. All you need is some enthusiasm and a very small space to work, far from neighbors. The only drawback is that the raw materials for this product have a bad smell during the production period.
This is a multilevel foot stool made from polyester gravity casting, filled with a lot of silica sand. I can send you a detailed drawing and detailed instructions on how to make the mold and products.

This product has an average material cost of less than 10 dollars (depending on where you are located) and requires less than 1 hour to produce in small quantities. You name your own price and sell it locally. Once you make it you can advertise in your local area, the Internet (including this site), word to mouth etc.

To upload your own pictures (limit 3 per ad), as shown above follow these steps:

Click on the New Attachment link just below the message area, then click on Browse... and go to the location of your computer where your picture is located, select the picture and click open or whatever your system is setup for.

Click on the button Add Attachment to the right and the picture will be uploaded to our site.

Now place your cursor over letter A in the above code and finally click on the "Insert in to Post" Button and you are done. These pictures will not be visible in the Preview, upon saving you will see the picture in a thumbnail form if your picture is more than 200 pixels on either width or height. Upon clicking on the picture (in the published thread) you will view the full size picture in a new tab or browser.

Repeat the above for second picture over letter B

Please note that only pictures with extensions .gif, .jpeg, .jpg and .png are allowed and maximum size per picture is 200 KBytes and maximum 3 pictures per thread to be uploaded

If you wish you can separate pictures from text with a horizontal line or insert them in a table as shown above and explained below.

A horizontal line can be produced with HTML as shown below the above two pictures and the HTML tag is shown at the end of the code shown above (hr between < and >).

All pictures uploaded to our site if they are larger than 200 pixels in any direction they are automatically reduced to thumbnail and an automatic link is added that upon click will open the full size picture in a separate tab.

The picture below shows the area where pictures are attached to your thread and a short summary of the steps. Click to view in a separate tab.

Your Header here

The sample below is an ad which has two pictures sourced externally (from another WebSite that you have access – in this case it is one of our WebSites).

<img src="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase3sm.jpg"

Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here

<img src="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase5sm.jpg"

The code of the above exactly as shown is:

Code:

[align=center][b][color=blue][size=large]Your Header here[/size][/color][/b][/align]

<table width="100%" border="0"><tr>
<td width="20%" valign=”middle”><div align="center"><a href="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase3.jpg"><img src="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase3sm.jpg"</a></div></td>
<td width="60%" valign="middle">Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here - Your text here</td>

<td width="20%" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a href="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase5sm.jpg"><img src="http://ads.greece-mylove.com/artads/imagesart/Vase5sm.jpg"</a></div></td>
</tr></table><hr>

And the general code for any picture, from any source (that you have access) is:

Code:

Your header here formatted as you wish

<table width="100%" border="0"><tr>

<td width="20%" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a href="http://www.link_to_your_picture_large1.jpg"><img src="http:/www.link_to_your_picture_small1.jpg"</a></div></td>

<td width="60%" valign="middle">Your text here ............. Your text here</td>

<td width="20%" valign="middle"><div align="center"><a href="http://www.link_to_your_picture_large2.jpg"><img src="http://www.link_to_your_picture_small2.jpg"</a></div></td>

</tr></table><hr>

You simply do the following:

Copy the above code.

Paste it to a new thread (or a temporary external text file – must be simple text, not a word processor)

Change and format the header area or delete it if you do not wish a header.

Add your own text in the area: Your text here ............. Your text here.

Replace link http://www.link_to_your_picture_large1.jpg with the true link of your first large size picture.

Replace link http://www.link_to_your_picture_small1.jpg with the true link of your first small size picture.

Do the above two steps for the second picture and you are done.

Notes:

Do not copy the words code or /code with or without the [ and ] and make sure you do not delete from the links any slashes / or quotation marks " ".

The pictures placed from other sources are clickable and the large view will open in a new tab.

Since the above codes are using HTML language you must remember that HTML is very picky in small details. For example quotation marks are written in a variety of ways from pure vertical to inclined. HTML will not accept inclined. Most word processors typically use inclined. So be careful if you get strange output by copying and paste codes, especially related to pictures and tables, watch for these single and double quotation marks. In simple text they are generally accepted such as “here” but inside tables they must be "like that". The best solution is to use a very simple text editor for pasting your code and if you cannot find one then download the free BabelPad from http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Ba...14098.html. If you are using UBUNTU always use the built in Text Editor.

If you are brave and wish to experiment, try adding a border in the table, change the border="0" to border="1" (don't overdo it), change the align to anything you wish: left, right, center, add two horizontal lines using <hr><hr> as shown below

I am the experimenting type and at times I even experiment on my self, provided there is no satisfactory solution to my problem from the normal routes.

I had a case of a chest keloid which was bothering me for years now. After 4 plastic surgeries and numerous other attempts (such as cortisone injections, silicon sheets, ointments ect) it was still leaking from time to time a mixture of puss and blood. In the last 20 years I must have visited over 10 doctors and each one was suggesting something different which did not help. If anything my oozing keloid was getting worst.

It is at this point that I decided to try "oil of oregano" an over the counter antibiotic simulate. I tried a mixture available in Canada from http://www.wildoiloforegano.com/ as a mixture of 1 pure oregano oil to 4 olive oil. (Read the FAQ page). I started applying the oil by rubbing over the keloid (at both inflamed and oozing state) and soon I saw a great improvement. I continued for probably over a year.

It is now over a year that I did not use the oregano oil (at least not over my keloid). My keloid has stabilized and no signs of infection appear any more.

I tried it also over boils and cysts and the result was a quick heal.

I am recommending that if you decide to try Oregano Oil do an extensive research on the Web, you will find plenty of information.

This is not a recommendation to use the oil of oregano in cyst, boils, keloid or anything. It is simply a description of a fact that worked for me. If you decide to try it, read a lot and start with small doses.
Only those who prefer to dig their heads in the sand cannot see the various problems that we are all facing and will become even more serious in the years to come. If you have children and grand children, I am sure you are working very hard to ensure their future is a better one, as yours was generally better than your ancestors.
But sometimes things can get out of control and we could all be hit with problems that this planet has never seen before.
I am sure that we are all are asking our selfs if there is anything we can do. We all need each other, otherwise the danger of heading back to the caves is potentially there.

Greek Easter is really big fun

Greek Easter (Greek Orthodox) is usually celebrated one week or more after the other Christian denominations. It always coincides with Egypts Festivity of "Sham El Nesim", I think it means the Smell of the Spring. This festivity dates back to ancient Egypt and is celebrated mainly in Egypt.

The Greek Orthodox Church was wise in their decision to draw from the festivities of ancient Greece and make Greek Easter day almost a semi pagan festivity.

The epicenter of the day is usually a whole lamb barbecued over real fire very slowly, in a backyard or a public place that allows this activity (e.g. in some Villages in Greece the festivities are carried in the central square and many many lambs are cooked at the same time).

The main part of the fun is not so much the eating of a cooked piece of lamb, but it is the 5 hours or so it takes for the cooking to take place and the in between talking, music, dancing and small appetizers that are served.

If you have plans to visit Greece, make sure you do it during Easter time and check with your Greek friends for the Village that offers the best Easter lamb. This year (2010) all Christian Easter are celebrated on the same day April4th.

Surviving in these recession (or is it depression?) days can be very difficult. Many of us faced this problem more than once in our lives. Let us join our brains to help others.
This is a new Board. At this stage we invite all visitors to think about it: What you need, what you can offer to help each other and maybe even help to change the World.

The problem today is clearly one of greed and corruption. The stock market which has reached a market value equal or exceeding 40 times the Gross National Product of the whole world is one of the reasons. The off shore accounts and businesses comes close second. But there is hope. Just a few months ago President Obama announced a crack down of off shore accounts and the like.

Starting your business doesn't need to be a new General Motors (even them collapsed). A small business between family members or friends can be an excellent method to get your self and many others out of this mess.

Spent some time thinking your knowhow and your capabilities and let us all talk here about suggestions. I have survived the last 40 plus years of my life with very small businesses. All can do it. Life goes on and many people make good living without any scams and without the stock market.

There will be more coming here soon, let us all try together!!!
